Allan Wright is husband to his wonderful wife, Desiree and father to their beautiful little daughters Sophia and Cataleen. A life long resident of New Jersey, Allan received his B.A. in Religious Studies from Seton Hall University and his M.A. in Theology in Scripture from Immaculate Conception Seminary receiving the Pope John Paul II Award for Academic excellence. He is a consecrated member of the Missionary Cenacle Apostolate, MCA.
Allan has been teaching theology at Union Catholic H.S. for close to twenty years and has received the Teacher of the Year award from the Archdiocese of Newark in 2000. He has taught as an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University in the Religious Studies Deptartment. He is currently Director of Apostolic Connections whose mission it is to train and empower lay leaders in the Church for New Evangelization called for by Pope John Paul II. Allan teaches scripture at Assumption College for Sisters in Mendham, NJ. He has also been asked to teach scripture to the Missonaries of Charity in Plainfield, NJ. Allan is also an active member of the Father Judge Apostolic Center for 10 years where he has been teaching scripture and leading small group discussions for close to ten years. He has presented at over 40 parishes in N.J. and at conferences for the University of Steubenville, Texas A&M, Rutgers University, Seton Hall University and for Immaculate Conception Seminary.
Allan currently serves on the Commission for Interreligious Affairs for the Newark Archdiocese after being appointed by Cardinal Theodore McCarrick in 1994 and re-appointed by Archbishop John J. Myers in 2002. He has presented at Catechetical Conferences and workshops in the diocese of Newark, Paterson, Metuchen and Trenton. The appointment to the Board of Directors for Apostolic Connections came to fruition after Roger Wilkin, his long time friend and colleague invited him onboard.
In June 2008 Allan received a 1st Place award for his book, Jesus in the House,from the Catholic Press Association. Late in 2002, his book, Silent Witnesses in the Gospels, was published by Servant Publications and received positive reviews from The Star Ledger, The National Catholic Register, The Catholic Advocate, The Catholic Digest, Catholic Exchange and many other Catholic and secular publications.
Allan recently signed a contract with St. Anthony's Messenger Press for his next book, "Jesus in the House: Gospel Reflections on Christ's Presence in the Home", which focuses on Jesus' healing, teaching, forgiving and sharing meals in the home. Allan is contributing writer for the Catholic News Service. His writings can be found in the CNS "Faith Alive!" service and he has also reviewed books dealing with Scripture for them.
Allan is a popular speaker and is knowledgeable, informative, inspiring and entertaining. He is comfortable in front of all groups and ages; regardless if the presentation is for teenagers, adults or for a gathering of Religious Sisters, Allan keeps them engaged and inspires them to live the Gospel in the providence of their daily lives.
